How You can Help

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As we treat small to medium indigenous wildlife, none of our patients have owners.  All treatment of wildlife is free of charge and we rely solely on the generous support of our community and corporate sponsors. Wildlife rescue doesn't just happen. It takes hard work, fundraising, staffing, and YOU. Without your generous donations and support, Johannesburg Wildlife Vet cannot treat our injured wildlife in need.
Johannesburg Wildlife Vet is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and a Public Benefits Organisation (PBO).

Make a Donation
We rely on the generosity and support from our community. Medical supplies and day-to-day running costs add up, and we could not save our wildlife without community support and generous donations. Any amount, big or small, is greatly appreciated! Visit our Make a donation page for our banking details as well as other ways to donate and projects that we would love your assistance with.

Our Wish List
Would you prefer to donate items rather than money? Our clinic staff have put together a list of items that we need and that would make our clinic even better! From specialist veterinary supplies, household items and animal food, we have many items that would help make a difference in the lives of our patients. Visit Our Wish list to see our ongoing wish list as well as drop off and collection details.

MySchool / MyPlanet Card
Make a difference every time you swipe when signing up for a MySchool / MyPlanet card! We are a registered beneficiary, and every time you shop and swipe your MySchool card at the MySchool partners, we receive a donation.

REMEMBER: It does NOT cost you a thing, and will make the biggest difference to our patients in need.

Become a sponsor!
Are you a corporate sponsor, looking for specific costs, or maybe wanting to donate something specific to help us make a difference? Pay it forward by visiting our wish list, which includes some much needed items, or send us an email to arrange even bigger donations.

Got plants?
To all our supporters out there who are avid gardeners, you can assist us in keeping our tortoises, dassies and vervet patients (amongst others) in peak health by dropping off your plant prunings at the hospital!

Visit our Got plants section to see which plants our patients would benefit from.

#OneMeal
#OneMeal is an initiative which enables us to share the costs incurred for one patient, for one meal. While there are additional costs incurred in the rehabilitation process, your donation toward food costs would assist us greatly in caring for our patients. Visit our #OneMeal page to see some examples of how much just one meal costs for some of our current and past patients.

Internship opportunities

We offer internship opportunities for those interested in the field of small and medium wildlife care. Our facility is a specialized wildlife only veterinary hospital and rehabilitation center based in Johannesburg, South-Africa. The internship fees allow students to be involved in every aspect of the facility, this can include; food preparation, cleaning, cage/enclosure enrichment, observing and/or assisting with veterinary procedures (depending on your qualifications) etc. Our hospital is a fully functional veterinary practice with an operating theatre, hematology and serum chemistry analysers, an ultrasound machine, an x-ray machine and we have access to CT and MRI facilities.  All aspects of the facility are overseen by our qualified and experienced staff and you will be exposed to more than just the day to day running of the hospital, you will also learn about the correct nutrition, husbandry, welfare and even prosecuting wildlife crime. If you are interested please send an email to [email protected]. Please note that a minimum stay of 2 weeks are required.

All treatment of wildlife is free of charge and we rely solely on the support of our community and corporate sponsors.
